Antipolis, now Antibes, was a Greek settlement founded by Massilian colonists in the 5th century BCE on the Mediterranean coast. It came under Roman control in 154 BCE during Rome's expansion in Gaul. After subduing local Ligurian tribes, the Romans fortified Antipolis, integrating it into the province of Gallia Narbonensis. The town grew as a key Roman port and trade center, leaving a lasting legacy in the region. Antipolis serves as the main headquarter and rally location for the Legio XIII Gemina and Legio VI Ferrata.
